Meet Our Counselors

SCORE® Santa Fe is fortunate to have a diverse group of counselors who have both expertise and experience over a broad range of both businesses and business operations.

JIM BERRY Career in sales, marketing, and executive management (both domestically and internationally) with some of high technology software’s most successful companies.  During this time he has been involved with over a dozen start-up businesses.

SUSAN BREWER- HARTMAN Has over 20 years of commercial lending experience and bank examination with community banks. Specializes in general management, bookkeeping and financial management.

B T COLEMAN Internet and Software Company CEO for forty years – served as CEO or Interim CEO at 22 companies. Skilled in crisis management and the non-technical parts of running a technology company.

PETER DONIGER 25 years of self employment in wholesale and retail sales. Currently advise small businesses with their accounting and taxes as director of Tax Aide in Santa Fe and State of New Mexico.

TOM FLORSHEIM Started and operated a branded business that manufactured, sold wholesale, and operated retail stores. Operated a similar business as Chief Executive Officer for 38 years in a similar field that involved retail, import and wholesale.

PATRICIA JOHNSTON Worked for Equity Trading on the Mutual Fund , International ,and Institutional side of the Money Management business for 27 years. Retired in 2009 as Head of Equity trading, Global Partner, and Head of Trading for all of North America with a Money Manager with 500 billion dollars under management.

JIM LANGLEY Over thirty-five years with major oil mining companies in senior management positions. Responsible for operations management, budgeting, contract negotiations and overall profitability of producing and exploration functions.

BOB LANTIS Senior Manager at credit subsidiary of major industrial manufacturer. Responsible for extension and collection of credit and marketing of various financial products

BOB LOCKWOOD Owned and operated a General Contracting business in Santa Fe for over 60 years. Has done residential and commercial work in all areas of New Mexico, as well as work in Colorado, Utah, and Arkansas.

MICHAEL MAREMONT has 40 years of experience in commercial real estate brokerage and consulting and was a founder and director of a national bank for 30 years. He also taught entrepreneurship at a major mid western university for 6 years.

MIKE MENDEZ Thirty-five years experience as a manager and executive in the fields of human resource management, leadership development, and community and labor relations. Specializes in strategies to develop employee teams that help businesses succeed.

RICHARD T. MEYER, Ph.D. CEO & President of chemical instrumentation manufacturing company in Albuquerque for past 17 years; worldwide customer base of Blue Chip corporations served by ABQ headquarters and in-country sales reps. Former Director of Georgia Tech ATDC technology business incubator; professor of entrepreneurship (business planning and venture financing) at Emory Business School in Atlanta. Prior consultant for startup business planning to Brazil, Egypt, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mexico, Mainland China, and Taiwan. Former co-owner of retail Mexican home furnishing business in Albuquerque while a Technical Staff Member at Sandia National Laboratories.

WILLIAM MOFFETT Retired after 35 year career with major energy company including twenty years in overseas operations. Held various engineering and management positions in the oil and gas production business. 

RUSS MOONEY Forty years experience in financial and general management for three major US companies with heavy emphasis in opening and building new markets particularly internationally. Fifteen years experience as a score counselor.

BILL MORRISON is retired Information Technology Manager from a large international bank in Los Angeles. Manages Santa Fe Score IT and Internet activities. Assists SCORE clients with website development and computer networks.

MARYANNE M. MOWEN Ph.D., CMA spent 33 years teaching cost and management accounting at Oklahoma State University. She is the author of a number of textbooks, including: Cornerstones of Managerial Accounting, 4th edition, and Cornerstones of Cost Accounting. She has also taught classes in accounting information systems, ethics, and the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on accountants. Maryanne has served as a consultant to mid-sized and Fortune 100 companies, and has worked with corporate controllers on management accounting issues.

WILL MURPHEY Experience in casualty insurance claims administration.  Raising from trainee to vice-president of major national insurance company. In addition held volunteer leadership positions with a major insurance trade association. Also has experience in banking and retail sales.

H WAYNE NELSON Senior positions with major international technology consulting, manufacturing and software firms, focused on international market development, and strategic planning. SCORE Counselor for 15 years with concentrating on Small Business Strategic and Business Planning.

JIM OWENS 30 years experience in semiconductor and related industries. Company sizes range from start up to $2B. Positions and experience includes: BOD both private and public, CEO, COO, head of operations, R&D, VC.

MARK STEINBERG A proven business builder with over 35 years experience, focused on general management, sales, marketing, training, presentation skills and leadership development. Industry expertise includes financial services, investments and insurance.

DICK STRANGER Experienced in buying, selling, financing, and managing domestic & international businesses. Senior manager in commercial and investment banking; CEO & CFO of manufacturing firms. President and CEO of venture-backed, publicly-owned software firm with world-wide government clients.

JUAN VELASCO Born in Bolivia, Masters in International Management, Wall Street banker, managed company overseas, and for the past 25 years owned own businesses in New Mexico. Strengths in international management, importing and exporting, setting up and day-to-day management of small business with concentration in jewelry design, wholesaling and farming (own and operate an organic orchard).

ROB WILSON began his career in marketing, merchandising and sales. He later was president of an international clothing manufacturer headquartered in Canada, then head of the strategy practice at a major international consulting firm. He later launched his own consulting firm in Boston, specializing in Strategic Planning.

JOHN (JACK) YOUNG Was Director of Executive Programs for the University of Colorado Graduate School of Business. Previously John served as President and Chairman and CEO of a major book publishing company. He is specifically interested in Publishing, Intellectual Property, Copyright, Trademarks, and Service Marks.
