“Santa Fe’s Economic Heart is Arts Retail…How to Keep Upbeat in Downbeat Times”.  This is a two-night seminar that will explore such topics as the business of arts, hiring and keeping good people, security procedures, gallery sales, cultivation of collectors and museum professionals, event planning, using the web as an effective marketing tool, purchasing vs. consignment sales, among others. This seminar is appropriate for arts marketing professionals, individual artists, gallery owners and managers and museum shop managers. Presenter:  Darlene Velicki and other arts professionals.

 

Darlene Velicki had a full career in National Security affairs, utilizing her training in international relations and political analysis.  She applied her analytical skills to business management, improvement and corporate performance measurement.  As an ISO 9001 (International Management Standard) consultant, she contributed to the streamlining of business operations for industry and government.  Through her arts consulting company, Artrepreneur, she offers guest curatorial services and arts business operations and improvement consulting.

 

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 5:30 – 7:30PM:  “Challenges in the Real World of Retail”.  This seminar will cover such timely topics as the current business environment and how you can benefit from it.  We will discuss making the most of customers that come into your store, customer loyalty, experience marketing, attitude, merchandise assortment, physical environment and vision.  Presenters:  Harriet and Karl Schreiner. 

 

Harriet Schreiner is retired after 40 plus years in retail management in charge of buying, merchandising and distribution for large retail jewelry chains and a mass merchant. Her expertise includes sales, marketing, assortment planning, distribution and buying.

 

Karl Schreiner is retired from a career in retail management in charge at Sears, Marshall’s and Circuit City.  His expertise includes human resources, merchandising, marketing store management, planning and wholesale manufacturing.
